Alfred D. Chandler Jr. was a Harvard Business School professor whose Pulitzer Prize-winning history of American big business, The Visible Hand, argued that the managerial revolution of the late nineteenth century was the key driver of American economic growth. He is the most important business historian of the twentieth century.
