Alistair MacLean
Alistair MacLean was one of the most popular adventure-thriller writers of the 20th century, whose taut, action-packed novels of wartime heroics and international adventure sold tens of millions of copies. The Guns of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare became classic war adventure films. His early work, drawing on his naval service, had a visceral authenticity that his later output sometimes lacked.
