About the author

Athol Fugard

South Africa's greatest playwright, Fugard documented apartheid's human devastation in plays of austere moral power. Working in collaboration with Black actors during a time of strict segregation, he created theater that spoke truth to power. Sizwe Banzi Is Dead and Master Harold...and the Boys are his finest works.
