Augusto Boal
Brazilian theater director and theorist whose Theatre of the Oppressed used participatory dramatic techniques to challenge political oppression. His 'forum theater' turned audience members into 'spect-actors' who could intervene in dramatized social situations. His methods have been used in community organizing and social work worldwide.
