Ben Okri
Nigerian novelist and poet whose The Famished Road, a novel of spirit-child mythology and Nigerian poverty, won the Booker Prize in 1991. His fiction draws on Yoruba mythology and the African oral tradition. He is one of the most celebrated African writers of his generation.
