Beth Henley
American playwright whose darkly comic Southern Gothic plays examine family dysfunction and social failure with black humor. Crimes of the Heart won both the Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony Awards. Her work, set in the Deep South, has affinities with both Chekhov and Flannery O'Connor.
