Charles Cumming is a British espionage novelist who drew on a brief flirtation with MI6 recruitment to write authentically about British intelligence culture. His Thomas Kell series is among the finest contemporary spy fiction and has drawn comparisons to le Carré. A Foreign Country won the Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger for best thriller.
