Christopher Lasch
American historian and social critic whose The Culture of Narcissism diagnosed the psychological effects of consumer capitalism as a retreat from social commitment into therapeutic self-absorption. The True and Only Heaven attacked liberalism's faith in progress. He is the most important American conservative social critic of the late 20th century.
