Daniel Dennett
American philosopher of mind who argued that consciousness is a product of physical brain processes, not a separate substance. Consciousness Explained is the most sustained attempt to naturalize the mind. Darwin's Dangerous Idea is the most philosophically rigorous defense of evolution's implications.
