Daphne du Maurier
Daphne du Maurier was a British author whose Gothic novels and stories have had an enormous influence on supernatural and dark fantasy fiction. Rebecca is one of the most widely read Gothic novels of the twentieth century, and The Birds and Don't Look Now are masterpieces of the supernatural short story. Alfred Hitchcock adapted several of her works.
