David Roberts is a British author whose Lord Edward Corinth and Verity Browne series, set in the 1930s and dealing with the political tensions of the lead-up to WWII, is one of the more intellectually and historically engaged of the period mystery sub-genre. His novels combine authentic period detail with engaging detective plotting.
