Deborah Harkness is an American historian and fantasy author whose All Souls trilogy features a scholar-witch who discovers an enchanted alchemical manuscript in the Bodleian Library. The series draws on Harkness's expertise in early modern history and alchemy. A Discovery of Witches was adapted for television.
