Donna Leon
Donna Leon is an American author who has lived in Venice for decades, writing the Commissario Guido Brunetti series which is among the most beloved European crime series. Her novels combine detective fiction with social commentary about Venetian life, Italian corruption, and the destruction of a unique city by tourism and industry. She has consistently refused to have her books translated into Italian.
