Killer's Wedge

Ed McBain was the pen name of Evan Hunter, creator of the 87th Precinct police procedural series, which pioneered the modern police procedural format. His ensemble cast of detectives in the fictional Isola (New York) was novel in its time and enormously influential. He wrote over 50 novels in the series across more than 50 years, essentially defining the police procedural as a genre.
