Elizabeth Peters
Elizabeth Peters was the pen name of Egyptologist Barbara Mertz, who created Amelia Peabody, a Victorian archaeologist-detective working in Egypt. Her novels combined genuine Egyptological expertise with wit, romance, and mystery in an enormously popular series. She also wrote under the name Barbara Michaels, producing Gothic romantic novels.
