Esi Edugyan
Canadian novelist of Ghanaian descent whose Half-Blood Blues won the Scotiabank Giller Prize and Washington Black also won the Giller and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Her historical fiction explores Black history with verve and compassion. She is one of Canada's most celebrated novelists.
