Franz Xaver Kroetz
Bavarian playwright whose early work depicted the inarticulate suffering of the uneducated working class in plays of shattering minimalism. Request Concert, a play performed in total silence, is his most radical work. He later became more explicitly political and even joined the Communist Party.
