George Santayana Santayana
Spanish-American philosopher and poet who coined the phrase 'those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' The Life of Reason is his major philosophical work; The Last Puritan is a celebrated novel. He retired to a Roman convent in his final years.
