Helene Tursten is a Swedish crime writer whose Irene Huss series features a Gothenburg detective inspector who is also a martial arts expert and mother of twin daughters. Her novels are notable for their feminist perspective and their portrayal of Swedish institutional culture. She has also written the Embla Nyström hunting investigator series.
