Ibn Khaldun Abd al-Rahman
Tunisian historian and social philosopher whose Muqaddimah is one of the greatest historical and sociological works ever written. He developed theories of social cohesion, economic cycles, and the rise and fall of civilizations that anticipate modern sociology. He is the most original thinker of the medieval Islamic world.
