Iris Murdoch

Anglo-Irish philosopher and novelist whose dense, morally serious fiction explored the nature of good and evil, love, and freedom. She wrote twenty-six novels, including The Sea, The Sea, which won the Booker Prize. She is one of the most significant British novelists of the postwar era.
