James Blish was an American science fiction author known for his Cities in Flight series, in which entire cities tear themselves from the Earth and journey through space. His novel A Case of Conscience won the Hugo Award for its exploration of alien theology and Catholic philosophy. He also wrote the first Star Trek tie-in novelizations.
