James Herbert
James Herbert was the most commercially successful British horror writer before Stephen King's domination of the genre. The Rats trilogy and The Fog delivered extreme horror content with genuine narrative skill. He was a major figure in establishing horror as a viable commercial genre in Britain and received the Bram Stoker Award for lifetime achievement.
