Nights with Uncle Remus

Joel Chandler Harris compiled and popularized the African American folklore tradition of Brer Rabbit and related trickster tales through his Uncle Remus series. Though a white writer presenting Black vernacular tradition, his work preserved stories that might otherwise have been lost.
