Juan Gabriel Vásquez
Colombian novelist who writes in Spanish and is widely read in English translation. The Sound of Things Falling and The Shape of the Ruins are masterworks of Colombian literary fiction. He is the most internationally celebrated Colombian novelist since García Márquez.
