K.W. Jeter is an American science fiction and fantasy author who is credited with coining the term steampunk in a 1987 letter to Locus magazine. His Morlock Night and Infernal Devices are among the founding texts of steampunk fiction. He also wrote several well-regarded Philip K. Dick-influenced science fiction novels.
