Vintage comedy mystery with three famous detectives competing to solve the same case

About the author

Leo Bruce

Leo Bruce was the pen name of Rupert Croft-Cooke, whose cheerfully unfashionable detective Sergeant Beef was created partly in parody of Golden Age pretension, while the later William Doris series showed genuine literary ambition. His novels were notable for their wit and their clever manipulation of detective fiction conventions.
