Grassic Gibbon (James Leslie Mitchell) was a Scottish writer who produced the masterpiece of Scottish working-class fiction in A Scots Quair, tracing the life of Chris Guthrie through the transformation of rural Scotland. Sunset Song is one of the great novels of the twentieth century.
