Imaginary Worlds

Lin Carter was an American author and editor who was an important popularizer of fantasy through his Ballantine Adult Fantasy Series, which brought classic works by Dunsany, Eddison, and others to a mass audience in the 1970s. His own fiction in the Thongor and Callisto series drew heavily on pulp predecessors. He was a founding member of the Swordsmen and Sorcerers' Guild of America.
