Madeleine Thien
Canadian novelist of Malaysian and Chinese descent whose Do Not Say We Have Nothing won the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Governor General's Award. Her fiction explores Chinese history and the transmission of music across generations. She is one of the most important contemporary Canadian novelists.
