Maria Irene Fornés
Cuban-American playwright whose work was central to the Off-Off-Broadway movement and influenced a generation of Latino and feminist dramatists. Fefu and Her Friends is her masterpiece, a formally innovative work that asked audiences to move through different performance spaces. She received nine Obie Awards.
