Martin Beck is a fictional detective, the protagonist of the series written by Swedish husband and wife team Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö, known collectively as the Martin Beck novels. This series is considered the most important precursor to the modern Scandi noir tradition, blending police procedural with Marxist social criticism.
