McHugh is an American science fiction author whose China Mountain Zhang is a landmark of sociological science fiction, depicting a near-future America in which China is the dominant world power. Mission Child and Nekropolis are also celebrated. She has won the Hugo, Nebula, and James Tiptree Jr. Awards.
