Max Brand was the most commercially successful pen name of Frederick Faust, who wrote dozens of Western novels at extraordinary speed and was one of the most prolific genre writers of the 20th century. Destry Rides Again became a classic Western film. He died on the Italian front as a war correspondent, one of the most romantic figures in pulp fiction history.
