Max Weber
German sociologist whose The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism argued that Calvinist theology was the cultural precondition for modern capitalism. His concepts of bureaucracy, ideal types, and legitimate domination are foundational to social science. He is one of the three founding figures of sociology.
