Michael Chabon is a Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist whose The Yiddish Policemen's Union is an alternate history detective novel of extraordinary literary ambition. His work in genre fiction, including his essay collection Maps and Legends, has been instrumental in legitimizing genre fiction in literary circles. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay drew on pulp fiction traditions.
