Nathalie Sarraute
Russian-French novelist and essayist who co-founded the French New Novel with her examination of 'tropisms'—the tiny unconscious movements that underlie social interaction. The Age of Suspicion collected her theoretical essays on the novel. She was one of the most formally radical writers of the 20th century.
