Nicolas Freeling
Nicolas Freeling was a British crime writer who set his best-known novels in the Netherlands, featuring Dutch detective inspector Van der Valk. His later novels featured French detective Henri Castang. Freeling was notable for his literary seriousness, continental settings, and willingness to experiment with the conventions of the detective novel.
