Spanish1902 – 1989Poetry

Cuban poet who fused Afro-Cuban rhythms, son music, and political militancy to create a uniquely Caribbean modernist voice. He was Cuba's National Poet and one of the founding voices of Negritude in the Spanish-speaking world.
