Northrop Frye
Canadian literary critic whose Anatomy of Criticism is the most ambitious attempt to establish a systematic scientific account of literature. His archetypal approach to literary form influenced a generation of critics and teachers. He is the greatest Canadian intellectual of the 20th century.
