Mexican Nobel Prize-winning poet and essayist whose The Labyrinth of Solitude is the most profound meditation on Mexican national identity ever written. His essays on love, eroticism, and art are among the finest in Spanish. He was also Mexico's ambassador to India and a significant diplomat.
