Oscar Zeta Acosta was a Chicano lawyer and activist whose autobiographical novels The Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo and The Revolt of the Cockroach People chronicled the Chicano movement with explosive energy and dark comedy. He was the model for Hunter S. Thompson's Dr. Gonzo.
