Peter Høeg is a Danish literary writer whose Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow became an international sensation, combining crime thriller with literary fiction, Arctic setting, and postcolonial politics. The novel introduced a wholly original detective in Smilla Jaspersen, a half-Greenlandic loner with an uncanny intuition about snow. It remains the most distinguished work of Nordic crime fiction.
