Philip Kerr
Philip Kerr was a Scottish crime writer whose Bernie Gunther series, set in Nazi Germany and featuring a cynical Berlin detective, is one of the most ambitious and morally serious in crime fiction history. The Berlin Noir trilogy was immediately recognized as a major work when it appeared in 1993. His painstaking research and moral intelligence gave the series a unique weight.
