Qiu Xiaolong
Qiu Xiaolong is a Chinese-American poet and crime writer whose Inspector Chen Cao series is set in contemporary Shanghai and uses the detective novel to explore the contradictions of China's transformation under economic reform. His novels are noted for their poetic sensitivity and their cautious but genuine engagement with Chinese political reality.
