Robert B. Parker was the creator of Spenser, the Boston private detective who became one of the most beloved characters in American crime fiction. His brisk, witty novels were among the most popular American crime series of the 1970s-2000s, and he also wrote the Jesse Stone and Sunny Randall series. He essentially reinvented the classic hard-boiled detective for contemporary readers.
