Sean Carroll is an American theoretical physicist and author whose Something Deeply Hidden is a popular science book on quantum mechanics, but whose science fiction interests have influenced a generation of hard SF writers. He has collaborated with science fiction authors and his ideas permeate contemporary hard SF.
