Anglo-American poet and critic who revolutionized both poetry and literary criticism in the 20th century. The Waste Land is the most discussed poem of the century; his essays on the Metaphysical poets and on tradition and the individual talent reshaped the literary canon. He won the Nobel Prize in 1948.
