Thomas Merton
Merton's The Seven Storey Mountain is the most widely read Catholic autobiography of the 20th century, describing his conversion and entry into the Trappist monastery of Gethsemani. His later writings on contemplation, social justice, and inter-religious dialogue made him one of the most influential spiritual writers of the century.
