Thomas Tryon was an American actor who became a celebrated horror novelist with The Other, a brilliantly constructed Gothic horror novel about twin boys, one of whom may not be entirely human. Harvest Home was another major Gothic novel of extraordinary atmosphere. His novels were noted for their literary quality and psychological subtlety in a genre not always known for either.
